VGAs (and who the hell is Felicia Day?)
Finally, the most pretentious Gaming-related event of the year is over.
Unlike E3, Gamescom or the Tokyo Game Show, the Spike Video Game Awards are that kind of event that does not contribute anything to Gaming as a whole, but only bloats those already bloated even more.

Bethesda now blaming Drivers for RAGE
![]() | ||
Yeah, that's shopped. Not far from the actual game, though. |
Yes, indeed. A game that's been in development for six years does not run nicely with drivers of the past year. id seemingly didn't have enough time to test their product on normal machines to make sure it runs on current hardware - who would have thought of technological advancement?
While many folks are playing RAGE on PC and not running into issues, we’re aware that some of you are experiencing issues with screen tearing and texture issues. These problems can be attributed to driver issues, and we’re currently working with Nvidia and AMD to resolve them as quickly as possible.
We know that you want to experience RAGE at its absolute best, so we’ll continue to use this blog post to keep you posted.
The responsibility of making your game run smoothly now has gone to the video card producers. These have to make sure their drivers adapt to every pile of crap developers put out, why would you ask the developers to adapt to the environment they're working for in the first place? And god, why would Bethesda and id put any video configuration settings into their damn game?

RAGE - This will Piss People off!
Who would have thought that Bethesda & id Software's new game "RAGE" would actually enrage customers like it actually did since it unlocked tonight via Steam?
Not only did Bethesda show its true colors in the court case against Mojang, but also the most recent game seems to be a magnificent dickmove against customers playing on PCs.
While even the developers themselves admitted it was a huge mistake to start developing for both Consoles and PCs at the same time 6 years ago, they didn't come to realize their mistake early enough, it seems.
Six years ago, both X360 and PS3 were still young, and easily up to par with most PC configurations of the target audience, if not more advanced.
The rise of PCs against the static hardware of consoles was clearly visible to all, yet id didn't rethink their strategies.
Now the damage is done. RAGE has been released in the US and it screams
"I COULD HAVE BEEN SO MUCH MORE IF IT WASN'T FOR MY CONSOLE STEPBROTHERS!" into the World Wide Web.

Bethesda and Mojang heading to court over "Scrolls"

Yeah, up until now, we always had the benefit of doubt.
Bethesda's lawyers have threatened Mojang, who are responsible for the successful Minecraft sandbox game, with legal charges for ages, ever since Mojang registered the name "Scrolls" for their new trading card/boardgame like game.
Bethesda, who are the minds behind titles like the "Fallout"-franchise, critically butchered "Brink" and in the first place the "The Elder Scrolls" series, feel like using the name "Scrolls" would infringe their rights on "The Elder Scrolls", which has its next game "Skyrim" upcoming this year.
Of course we would confuse an indie trading card game with a multimillion dollar "open world" RPG that's being advertised everywhere and sold for ridiculous prices, with the promise of day-1 DLC!
Is Bethesda feeling that insecure to sue a successful indie development team over a name?
And let's bring this case into context with other games!
If you can't use "Scrolls" because its a part of "The Elder Scrolls", then let's sue Bethesda for using "RAGE" as a title for one of their own games. Let's look at the "Streets of Rage" series back on the Sega systems, or, surprisingly, TWO actual card games of the same title!
This, I say, is reason enough for myself to not pay a single cent for upcoming Bethesda titles. Skyrim? Nah, don't want that anyway. Rage? Nope.
I really hope Bethesda will fail so hard, it will hurt them badly. This is a shining example of why our current trademark and copyright system needs to be heavily reworked. It's just ridiculous that way.
Scrolls is Mojang's next game and offers a new and unique game play where you fight to outmaneuver your opponent on the battlefield using the destructive powers in your collection of magical scrolls. Tear your opponent limb from limb with the might of your summoned armies, lay waste to the defenses with the obliterating power of your siege weapons or open up the very skies and let bolts of lightning shower his minions until only ash remains. The road to victory is yours to choose. Obtain the powerful scrolls and decide which ones you will take to battle as you fight to become the mightiest Magician of all.
